As of January 9, 2025, this feature is available for all student referrals currently marked as In Placement.
Q: What does the Pause button do?
A: When a referral is put “on pause,” the Days in AEDY timer is stopped. When the referral is later resumed, the timer starts again and the Presumptive Exit Date is adjusted to account for the days it was on pause.
Q: When should the Pause feature be used?
A: This feature is appropriate when a student was in AEDY placement, then removed to another placement, and the new informal hearing determined that the student should then return to AEDY as part of the original referral (NOT due to a new behavior).
Q: What if there is a new behavior that meets the criteria for an AEDY placement?
A: This would qualify as a Secondary Incident, and the secondary incident procedure should be followed.
Follow the steps below to Pause an In Placement student referral:
(Step 1) To begin a “Pause” on a student’s time in AEDY, click on the pause icon in the bottom right corner of the student’s referral on the Demographics page.
(Step 2) Use the dropdown menu to select the reason for the pause, then enter a brief explanation of the situation using the open textbox. Enter the date the pause is to begin in the final box, then select the button “Submit request to pause referral.”
This will send a request to the PDE team who may contact you for further information.
When a referral is Currently Paused, a yellow box will show at the top of the referral's Placement Page with the date the Pause began.
Follow the steps below to Resume or "un-pause" a student referral:
(Step 1) After the Pause has ended, the new informal hearing has been conducted, and the student is back in the AEDY program, use the same pause icon on the demographics page to access the request to un-pause the referral.
(Step 2) Enter the date the pause is to end in the textbox and select the Submit button. Then, use the upload box to provide the signature page from the new informal hearing. Upon upload, you will receive a confirmation message that the referral has resumed.
