Efficient and Effective Behavioral Screening & Evidence-Based Interventions
Dr. Parker recently joined The Citadel as an Assistant Professor of School Psychology.
She previously served as a school psychologist in SC and PA, as well as an Educational Consultant for the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network- PaTTAN. In this role, Dr. Parker provided training and technical assistance to teachers, mental health practitioners, and school leaders in the areas of equity, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, and school psychology. Dr. Parker is a trainer of trainers for PREPaRE Workshops 1 and 2, Check and Connect, RENEW, and Bounce Back, a cognitive-behavioral intervention for students in grades K-5. She is excited to continue to support educational partners with systems-level change efforts in South Carolina.
Part 1: Planning for Success: Efficient and Effective Behavioral Screening and Intervention
Behavioral screening and intervention can be a challenging endeavor under typical circumstances, and even more so when time and resources are limited. This virtual training will review valid and reliable tools to inform AEDY behavioral goals. Additionally, participants will explore efficient and effective evidence-based interventions aligned to screening data. Important considerations, including screener qualifications, treatment fidelity, generalization, and long-term planning will also be addressed.

Part 2: From Screening to Intervening: Evidence-Based Interventions for At-Promise Youth
Many educators have heard the adage, "if we screen, we must intervene." However, despite the abundance of screening data available, school teams find it challenging to find an evidence-based intervention match aligned with students' needs. This virtual training will review evidence-based interventions to address commonly identified needs for students at promise within AEDY placements. Important considerations, including resource allocation, intervention fidelity, and generalization will also be addressed.
