FSA 1 | MTSS

Resources for MTSS

Note: This video series was originally created for use in Schoology. While the video mentions Schoology, everything is now publicly available in the Monitoring module here on the website.

Video Transcript

FSA 1 is also the area where multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) are evidenced. The monitoring chair and team will reivew what is in place as the program's positive behavior support framework. This includes processes and procedures related to behaviors driven by the MTSS action plan. Interventions and supports should be aligned to student need as identified through the Formal Periodic Review process.

Slide: evidence-based program implementation. All AEDY Programs must implement a multi-tiered system of support utilizing evidence-based positive behavioral supports. The premise of all MTSS models is that universal approaches must be in place before more intensive data-based interventions are utilized. To that end, LEA must ensure AEDY programs offer universal positive behavioral supports and that all students have a clear understanding of rules and expectations. Intensive supports for students with significant behavioral needs require a foundational comprehensive universal approach (also known as Tier 1). MTSS models such as SWPBIS provide an evidenced based conceptual framework for school wide implementation. AEDY Guidelines.

As per the guidelines, all programs must provide a multi-tiered system of support evidencing positive behavioral supports. Core tier 1 as well as advanced tier supports, or interventions, that are accessible to students will be evidenced in this area.

The most recent action plan with supporting documentation will be uploaded in this section of the FSA. It is important to note that each program is required to hvae formalized positive support training through their local intermediate unit, PaTTAN, or another training provider. Action Plans should include next steps and strategies through the end of the next school year or longer.

Slide: action plan: supporting documentation. School or program-wide behavior matrix. behavior lesson plans. behavior lesson plan teaching schedule. Acknowledgement system. Point sheets. Data collection platform. Tiered fidelity inventory (TFI) or Benchmark of Quality (BOQ).

These are some examples of supporting documentation that can be uploaded as evidence. This is not a comprehensive list but rather some examples of universal supports evident in most settings with positive behavioral support systems in place.

This is the action plan template to be uploaded in FSA 1. This action plan template, along with more specific information on action planning and using the template, is available [on this website (linked above)] in the MTSS section. Since MTSS requires a cycle of implementing, evaluating, and planning, this area of the training plan remains open.
