FSA 1: Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports - Evidence-Based Programs
An MTSS framework uses academic and disciplinary data and principles of behavior analysis to develop tiered, targeted, and individualized interventions and supports to improve behavioral and academic outcomes, identify and prevent problem behavior as early as possible, and improve school climate. Using a preventative, proactive, and data-driven framework to teach positive behavior skills as part of the core will reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school's sense of safety, and support improved academic outcomes. Incorporating and integrating these positive practices into professional development opportunities for all staff, will develop a culture aligned with both State Education Agency (SEA) and Local Education Agency policies required through IDEA.
AEDY Team Discussion Points- AEDY Program Team Discussion Points have been developed to begin and sustain discussion among members of the team. These points should be reflected in the Data Collection Summary.
This section of the FSA addresses three important program components: Counseling, Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), and Restraint.
An overview of each of the three components addressed in this section of the FSA are available as part of this module - each on its own page. The pages include an FAQ of the requirements followed by a list of resources to support each component in FSA 1. Click the next button below to get started.
